MyMission Crash Course
It’s not just an introductory crash course, it’s also a mission critical journey. In this 4-week crash course, you will learn about the mission of our church, the heartbeat of our house, the purpose and potential within yourself, and the possibilities God has for your life within this ministry and community. The goal of this course is to introduce you to the history and mission of our church, encourage you to dig roots in our community, and help you identify your unique gifts and calling as you join in the everyday mission of God. You can jump into this crash course at any point in the rotation. Just attend all four sessions to complete!
The first week of the crash course is meant to give you a high-level overview of the church and what makes us unique from other churches in our county. The facilitator for this session will focus on topics such as history, mission, vision, and values of Mission Community Church. This particular week’s session is a great opening session for anyone wanting to learn more about who we are and what makes us tick as a church.
The second week of the crash course is meant to explain how people can get connected with our church. Since community is the framework for discipleship, we place high value on community as we do life together, particularly through membership, MissionGroups, and other larger groups (i.e. MissionMen and MissionWomen). This particular week’s session is a great session for anyone interested in getting connected with a smaller community within the church.
The third week of the crash course is meant to introduce people to the idea of spiritual gifts and how these gifts are meant to glorify God for the good of the community. Every Christian is given at least one spiritual gift (1 Corinthians 12:7), and often times more; therefore, attendees will complete a spiritual gifts assessment. This particular week’s session is a great session for anyone wanting to learn more about the spiritual gifts, how we as a church view the spiritual gifts, and what gifts you may have as a follower of Jesus.
The final session of the crash course is meant to align people’s unique passions and gifting(s) with the appropriate volunteer roles within the church. Attendees will be presented with a list of current volunteer roles within the church that contain short descriptions explaining the expectation and responsibilities of those roles, and the spiritual gifts that are best suited for those roles. The overall goal is to help people who have completed the crash course identify one area of ministry in which they are passionate and gifted to serve.
