MEET MICHAEL SKIFF
While growing up religious Mike never had a good understanding of God and His desire to be in a relationship with him. In the early years of his marriage, Mike would sometimes go to church with his wife, Alli, because he knew this was important to her; however, he would often skip church to go fishing or on some other excursion. Theology was not high on the list of priorities.
Several years into their marriage, both Mike and Alli decided to move to Downingtown and contemplated attending a new church that would be closer in proximity to their new home. Their neighbors at the time invited them to attend a church with them. After attending the church for some time, Alli decided that she would like to become a member, and Mike attended the membership classes with her. At the conclusion of the classes, a pastor leading that class sent everyone an email asking them where they were in their relationship with Jesus. This was the first time Mike had ever really contemplated this question and he realized he needed to give this some serious thought.
Not being one to not make a decision lightly, Mike committed himself to reading the Bible and several books that Alli bought him for Christmas. After several months of digging into the Bible and meeting with a local pastor, he could tell he was being slowly drawn to God. Even when he decided he wanted to believe, he still struggled for a few weeks with this leap of faith. While driving down Route 30 after church one winter Sunday, Mike told Alli I that he decided to believe in Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
When it comes to Mission Community Church, the combination of a great pastor, great volunteer leaders and dedicated membership will be a magnet for countless people to meet, know and follow Jesus. He continues to be amazed at what God is doing as His plan for Mission unfolds.
